For almost 80 years, the Sawyer Family has been serving the Outer Banks Community by providing a trusted place to shop for a "new-to-them vehicle."
When Roland Sawyer Sr. began selling used cars in downtown Manteo, his neighbors knew Mr. Roland would take care of them. In 1946, he opened a Dodge dealership in the building that currently houses Manteo Marine. And in 1954, the Sawyer Family joined forces with Ford Motor Company, a relationship that would last until 2024.
Returning to their roots, R.D. Sawyer III (better known as Dock) and his Uncle Byron Sawyer are once again Independent Auto Dealers. Offering sales in the front and service in the back, R.D. Sawyer Motor Company has a great selection of used cars, trucks, and SUVs in stock. And the service department provides a trustworthy place to get routine maintenance, brakes and tires, alignments, NC State Inspections and other important services.
